Erdoğan Calls Israel’s Attacks on Gaza Genocide
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in remarks following a cabinet meeting, addressed the country’s most important domestic and foreign issues. Condemning Israel’s attacks on the Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza, Erdoğan described these actions as “the continuation of genocide.” Pointing to the killing of journalists such as Mohammed Salameh, he stated that so far, 240 journalists have lost their lives during the Gaza war. According to him, the brutal assaults on hospitals and journalists are part of the genocidal war waged by the occupiers against the people of Gaza.
Economy
In the economic section, Erdoğan announced that the Central Bank’s reserves had risen to 176.5 billion dollars, the Borsa Istanbul index had grown, borrowing costs had decreased, confidence in the Turkish lira had increased, inflation had fallen, exports had grown, and tourism revenues had risen. He added that industrial production in June had increased by 8.3% compared to last year, and the unemployment rate had dropped to 8.6%. He also declared that the year 2026 had been designated as the “Year of Economic Reforms.”
Infrastructure
The President spoke of plans to expand the railway network by the years 2053, and announced the start of construction on the Kars–Iğdır railway line. He emphasized the importance of launching the Zangezur Corridor, calling it a strategic step to connect East and West and to strengthen regional cooperation.
Environment
Erdoğan highlighted Turkey’s success in reforestation, stating that the country ranks first in Europe in afforestation. He also spoke of preventive measures and rapid response efforts in combating forest fires, which have reduced damages.
Role of Citizens Abroad
Expressing gratitude to Turkish citizens living abroad, Erdoğan stressed their significant contribution to the country’s economy and tourism. He also reported an increase in the participation of children and young people in Qur’an education programs.
Security and Domestic Policy
Erdoğan described the “Terror-Free Turkey” policy as a guarantee for ensuring domestic security, attracting foreign investment, and achieving sustainable economic growth. He emphasized that this path would continue with the preservation of national unity and the strengthening of regional cooperation, paving the way for a secure and stable future for the country.
