Iranian Vice President Emphasizes Expansion of Cooperation with Turkey
Abdolkarim Hosseinzadeh, Iran’s Vice President for Rural Development and Deprived Areas, during his visit to Urmia and inspection of the Serow Border Terminal, stressed the necessity of expanding economic and social interactions and cooperation with the neighboring country, Turkey.
During the visit, he closely examined the flow of passengers and vehicles and highlighted the capacities of this border crossing. Hosseinzadeh described the Serow Terminal as one of the most important gateways between Iran and Turkey, capable of playing a key role in boosting exchanges and facilitating travel.
Later, Hakem Memkan, Member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly representing the people of Urmia, referred to the plan for establishing the “Serow Special Economic Zone” and connecting it to the border terminal, calling this initiative a step toward transforming the area into an economic hub of northwestern Iran.
He added that launching this special zone, in addition to expanding exports and imports, would create new opportunities for investment and employment, and could accelerate the region’s sustainable development.
