Iran and Turkey Emphasize Countering Israel’s Expansionist Plans
On the sidelines of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, met and held talks with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and the current Chair of the OIC.
During the meeting, Araghchi expressed appreciation for Turkey’s role in supporting the Palestinian people and its active presidency of the OIC, stressing the need to strengthen the shared capacities of the Islamic world to confront the expansionist projects of the Zionist regime and to defend the Palestinian cause.
The two sides reviewed the latest developments in bilateral cooperation and agreed to expand strategic relations between Tehran and Ankara in the fields of trade, energy, transportation, border security, and regional exchanges. They also underlined the importance of convening the Iran–Turkey High Council for Cooperation as soon as possible as a practical step toward deepening bilateral ties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey reaffirmed their commitment to continuing consultations, enhancing bilateral coordination, and strengthening regional and international cooperation based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and shared interests.
