Erdoğan: Emphasis on Equal Freedom at the Ceremony of New Judges and Prosecutors
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, speaking at the ceremony introducing new judges and prosecutors at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center, said: “Acceptance of the New Turkey may take some time, but God willing, everyone will embrace it; a place where freedoms are applied equally for all.”
Addressing the young judges, the President stressed that their duty is not merely an administrative job, but a great mission to realize justice—since every case involves the destiny of a human being. Recalling the words of Ibn Khaldun that “Justice is the scale of measurement among people” and referring to Nizami Ganjavi, he described justice as the pillar of the state and the foundation of peace and prosperity.
Erdoğan pointed to the extensive reforms in education, health, justice, and security over more than two decades, saying: “From the very first day, we kept the will for reform alive and updated the judicial system with strategic documents and operational programs so that it would earn the trust of society.”
He also emphasized the necessity for politicians and the media to respect the independence of the judiciary, warning that the composure of judges should not be mistaken for weakness. According to him, those who seek to undermine the judicial system with a threatening tone are in fact revealing their own masks.
Erdoğan concluded: “Safeguarding justice and the rule of law is the duty of the entire society; not only judges and jurists, but also politicians and journalists must take steps along this path.”
