Erdogan’s condolence message following the passing of Pope Francis
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, shared a message on his social media account expressing his condolences for the passing of Pope Francis, the leader of the world’s Catholics, extending his sympathies to the Pope’s family, the Vatican government, and the global Catholic community.
Erdogan, expressing sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis, wrote that Pope Francis was a respected figure, an outstanding statesman, and also a spiritual leader who valued interfaith and interdenominational dialogue. He responsibly took a stance and initiative against human tragedies, especially regarding the issue of Palestine and the genocide in Gaza.
The President of Turkey added that he extends his condolences and sympathy, on behalf of himself and the Turkish nation, to the late Pope’s family, the Vatican government, and the Catholic community, and prays for their patience.
