Fidan and Araghchi Meet at BRICS Summit to Discuss Post-Ceasefire Process Between Iran and Israel
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated in remarks to reporters that he met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the sidelines of the 70th BRICS summit in Brazil and discussed the post-ceasefire developments between Iran and Israel.
Fidan said, “The ceasefire is still holding firmly. We see that the parties are adhering to it. However, there is uncertainty regarding the resumption and nature of nuclear negotiations.”
The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that he had also met with Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Representative for the Middle East, four days ago to discuss the matter.
Emphasizing that Iran has understandable concerns, Fidan added, “We hope this issue will be resolved as soon as possible through diplomatic negotiations and that the conflict does not escalate further.”
