Imamoğlu’s reaction to the recent operations against Istanbul Municipality: “Our determined struggle will continue”
Imamoğlu, in a message posted on his official social media account, wrote:
“Right now, we are all held captive as a nation. The will of the people has been shackled. The future of our children and youth, our hopes, our family values, our work and livelihoods, our joy and prosperity—all are under pressure. Our determined struggle will undoubtedly continue alongside our people.”
Referring to recent developments, he stated:
“It seems a pre-written script is being played out: first, mass detentions, then detainees held in unsuitable conditions—without access to fresh air, water, or food—and finally, transfer to Silivri Prison. Some of our friends have even been moved from Silivri to prisons in other cities, with limited access to lawyers and family visits.”

The Istanbul Mayor addressed the public, saying:
“To all who believe in justice and say, ‘Silence in the face of oppression is complicity with the devil,’ I declare: Today, all democratic movements—from social democrats to conservatives and liberals—are under pressure.”
He concluded with emphasis:
“There is no path to individual salvation; either we win together, or no one does. Long live the independent Republic of Turkey! The nation is great!”
These remarks come amid growing criticism of recent judicial processes and mass detentions in Turkey.
