Implementation of Water Consumption Management and Water Cut Program in Ankara
The Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration announced that the majority of the city’s water supply is provided through three main transmission lines. According to the institution, in recent weeks two of these transmission lines have faced disruptions, which has led to a significant decrease in the volume of water entering the city.
At the same time, operations to replace the old lines with steel pipes have begun, and their completion is expected to take about one week.
The announcement also stated that the water levels in the dams surrounding Ankara have reached a critical point due to the ongoing drought, and that in order to manage consumption, the implementation of a water cut program in different districts of the city has become unavoidable.
Officials emphasized that alongside these restrictions, the process of repairing and renewing the transmission lines is also continuing. The Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration, while apologizing to citizens for the difficulties caused, called on them to overcome this challenging situation through savings and cooperation.
