Kurtulmuş: The Commission’s Joint Report Will Be Ready Soon
Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, announced that the Commission on National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy has reached its final stage. He said: “This stage is the writing of the joint report and turning the proposals into law.”
Kurtulmuş, speaking at the 20th meeting of the commission held in the Ceremonial Hall of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, expressed his sorrow over the crash of the plane carrying the Chief of General Staff of Libya, General Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad, and extended condolences to the people of Libya. He recalled that the incident occurred after the Libyan delegation’s meetings with Yaşar Güler, Turkey’s Minister of National Defense, in Ankara, and noted that the process of determining the cause of the accident is ongoing.
The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly emphasized that the commission has so far held 58 meetings in 19 sessions, conducted 86 hours of discussions, and listened to 135 people, resulting in 4,139 pages of text. He added that the reports of political parties have been published and the current goal is to prepare a joint report.

Kurtulmuş stated that an additional period is needed to complete the final report and put forward the proposal to extend the commission’s mandate by two months, which was unanimously approved. He also thanked university academics, including Prof. Dr. Hava Kök Arslan and Dr. Murat Suncan, for their contributions to the content analysis of the commission’s sessions.
Referring to regional and global developments, including the Russia-Ukraine war and statements by the Prime Minister of Israel, Kurtulmuş stressed that Turkey does not have much time to strengthen its internal front and must take swift but not hasty steps. He added that all political parties have sought common ground and that the final report must be prepared with the participation of all.
Kurtulmuş noted that the commission will convene in the future only when necessary and emphasized that the “Turkey Without Terrorism” project requires cooperation among all state institutions and political parties.
