The first autumn snow covered the highlands of eastern Turkey in white
In Turkey’s Van, Bitlis and Hakkari provinces, the season’s first snowfall blanketed the highlands. At the same time, Turkish road maintenance teams began operations early this morning to reopen routes.
Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, highlighted the extensive preparations of the responsible institutions, stating that road, air and rail service teams will operate around the clock during the winter months. He emphasized that the main objective is to ensure travel safety and maintain connectivity under severe weather conditions.
At airports, snow removal and de-icing operations are being carried out with advanced equipment to keep flights running without disruption. The country’s railway lines are also under the supervision of mobile teams, ready to clear routes.
The Minister of Transport further announced the large-scale storage of de-icing materials and the deployment of personnel at snow removal centers. Uraloğlu noted that roads are monitored in real time with cameras, adding that Turkey aims, through meticulous planning, to provide citizens with a safe and uninterrupted winter.
