Turkey Reached the Threshold of 86 Million People in 2025
According to official data from TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute), Turkey’s population in 2025 has exceeded 85 million 980 thousand. The trend of population growth throughout the year has been recorded in considerable detail.
Based on the latest reports from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the country’s population at the end of 2024 was 85,664,944. In the first nine months of 2025 (January to September), Turkey’s population increased by 315,710 people, reaching 85,980,654. In the first half of the year, the population grew by 159,910 people, reaching 85,824,854 on July 1. Then, between July 1 and October 1, another increase of 155,800 people was reported.
In terms of gender distribution, 50.02 percent of Turkey’s population are men (around 43,003,770 people) and 49.98 percent are women (around 42,976,884 people). Some reports note that this ratio is almost equal, with only a very slight difference.
Turkey’s population growth in 2025 has been slow but steady. Especially in the third quarter of the year, the pace of growth was reported to be slightly higher. However, the growth rate has declined compared to past decades and is moving toward stabilization.
