Turkish Foreign Minister Welcomes PKK’s Dissolution Decision
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan commented on the PKK’s decision to disband and lay down arms during a joint press conference with his Jordanian and Syrian counterparts. Fidan described this move as a significant development for regional stability, stating that sincere implementation of this decision would have positive effects on Turkey and the region.
Fidan also addressed recent developments in Syria, affirming Turkey’s support for the country’s efforts to restore stability. However, the Foreign Minister expressed concern about the presence of armed groups in northern Syria, emphasizing that this poses a threat to regional security.
In another part of the conference, Fidan provided details about Turkey’s mediation role between Russia and Ukraine. He announced that Istanbul would host a new round of negotiations between the two countries, stressing that Turkey would use all diplomatic means available to help end the conflict.
Concluding his remarks, Fidan highlighted Turkey’s active foreign policy in the region, noting its efforts to establish peace and stability in areas including Gaza, the Balkans, and the Black Sea.
