Turkish Red Crescent distributes hot meals during Ramadan in Gaza: The Turkish Red Crescent provides hot iftar meals to Palestinians struggling with hunger during the holy month of Ramadan and continues to provide them with food, water, and hygiene supplies.
Thanks to the efforts of the Turkish Red Crescent, urban tents have been set up in several areas of the Gaza Strip, and hot meals are provided to 30,000 Palestinians daily.
Fatma Meric Yilmaz, head of the Turkish Red Crescent, told Anadolu Agency that they are delivering aid to the needy in Gaza despite many difficulties.
Yilmaz said: “We initially organized for a long time to send ships to the port of Arish and enter from there through the Rafah Gate. But the Rafah Gate was closed and has not been opened yet. From time to time, a ceasefire is implemented, when the gates are opened, supplies come in, but they stop again. Unfortunately, recently, the arrival of humanitarian aid has stopped again. Since we thought that in such a situation we should always have alternative routes, together with our previous experience, we kept what we could do as an alternative, through Jordan, the Karm Abu Salem crossing, the Ariz crossing, even during the periods when the Rafah Gate was open. We have not stopped our aid operations.”
Stating that there are 11,000 tents in Gaza, which were provided by Afad and brought by the Red Crescent, he continued: “After setting up each tent city, we try to support that place with food, hygiene kits, and hot meals. We distribute water. Every day, we set up iftar tables for 30,000 people and distribute hot meals.”
Emphasizing that a permanent ceasefire is necessary for life in Gaza to return to normal, Yilmaz noted: The Turkish Red Crescent will continue to deliver the financial aid entrusted to them to the people of Gaza as soon as possible.
