Araghchi Meets Ilham Aliyev in Baku
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to Baku for consultations with senior officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met and held talks this morning with Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a range of bilateral issues, including the course of political interactions, matters related to neighborhood relations, and mechanisms for managing ties between the two countries.
Araghchi conveyed the warm greetings of President Pezeshkian to the President of Azerbaijan, and while highlighting the deep-rooted and historic bonds between the two nations, emphasized the determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to strengthen and expand relations with Azerbaijan in all areas of mutual interest. He also underscored the importance of a long-term perspective in neighborhood relations and highlighted the role of continuous diplomatic consultations in resolving misunderstandings and managing bilateral issues.
The President of Azerbaijan, in turn, conveyed his greetings to the President of Iran, describing President Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Baku as historic and considering it an important step in strengthening mutual understanding and improving relations between the two countries. Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the growing trajectory of bilateral ties and stressed Azerbaijan’s readiness to utilize all available capacities to further develop relations.
In this meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister also outlined the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding regional developments.
