The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to the repeated attacks by the Zionist regime and targeting the most valuable defensive assets and the military and civilian infrastructure of Syria, as well as the occupation of the strategic areas of this country by the Zionist regime following the fall of the former government, highlighted the responsibility of all parties that facilitate Israel’s exploitation and aggression. He also reminded that the Islamic Republic of Iran had, several months ago, in consultation with regional countries, warned against the Zionist regime’s exploitation of the situation in Syria, the expansion of its occupation, and its provocative actions against this country and other countries in the region.
In his further remarks, Baqaei stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a historically rooted and honorable nation in such an important region as West Asia, continues to emphasize the necessity of preserving the territorial integrity, dignity, and national sovereignty of Syria. He called on the international community, especially regional countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to take urgent and effective measures to stop the aggressions of the Israeli regime, end its impunity, and hold it accountable for its severe violations of laws, ongoing aggressions against regional countries, and the ongoing genocide in the Occupied Palestine.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, Syria has been subjected to targeted attacks by Israel with the intent of destroying and eliminating essential and military infrastructure. Israel seeks to turn Syria into a passive country in the region and further strengthen its influence in this nation.
