Ekrem İmamoğlu, the mayor of Istanbul and the presidential candidate of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), who is detained in Marmara Silivri Prison, has sent a letter to the representatives to counter the threat of appointing a caretaker for the party. This action is part of a decision made for the extraordinary congress of the Republican People’s Party, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
Imamoğlu stated that on this honorable path we will traverse together until the end, the obstacles placed in our way and the difficulties created are merely insignificant details. Whatever they do, we will succeed!
At the beginning of his letter, he wrote that this siege is a siege imposed by an oppressive government that has openly declared it does not adhere to law and democracy and considers itself the owner of the state.

Without the support of the people, no system can remain stable.
Imamoğlu stated in a letter to the representatives that this government opposes the presence of electoral rivals, the existence of rival parties, and the holding of free and fair elections.
Their main goal is to maintain a one-man system that has driven the country into crises in all areas, from the economy to health, education, and justice. However, no oppressive system can remain stable without the support of the people.
The dignity of the people, their will, and determination to protect their future prevail over any form of tyranny. The congresses of the Republican People’s Party have, since their inception, been a symbol of this dignity, this determination, and the birthplace of this struggle.
