Fidan: Expanding the Scope of Negotiations to Include Missile Issues Would Lead to a New War
Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, noting the relative readiness of Tehran and Washington to revive the nuclear agreement, warned that extending negotiations to cover Iran’s ballistic missile program would have disastrous consequences for the region.
The Turkish Foreign Minister stated that the United States is prepared to agree to limited uranium enrichment by Iran. The U.S. has agreed to permit Iran enrichment within specified limits.
The United States and Iran are ready to reach a compromise on the nuclear agreement, and Washington may abandon its demand for Tehran to completely cease uranium enrichment. Hakan Fidan made these remarks in an interview with the Financial Times.
According to Fidan, the Americans appear ready to allow Iran to enrich uranium within the framework of certain restrictions.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister said: “The Iranians have now understood that they need to reach an agreement with the Americans, and the Americans have also realized that the Iranians have their own limitations.”
