Fidan’s Emphasis on Lasting Peace Among Turkic States
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, speaking on Tuesday at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States held in the city of Gabala, Azerbaijan, underlined that achieving lasting peace and long-term stability is only possible through strengthening continuous coordination and close cooperation among the members of this organization.
Referring to the idea that “the Turkic World must become one of the main actors in shaping regional balances,” Fidan stressed that the greatest strength and asset of the Organization of Turkic States lies in mutual trust and deep cooperation among its members.
He further emphasized the necessity of increasing joint meetings and consultations to define the organization’s position and to adopt a coordinated approach in the face of regional and global challenges, adding that the main theme of the summit, titled “Regional Peace and Security,” constitutes one of the fundamental priorities for the future of the shared geography of the Turkic states.
In another part of his remarks, the Turkish Foreign Minister referred to the peace process in the South Caucasus, noting that significant progress has been made toward achieving lasting peace, and stated that Turkey warmly welcomes the joint declaration signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia on August 8 in Washington.
