Ilham Aliyev: Baku is Mediating Between Israel and Syria
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with the Al Arabiya television network, announced that Baku is mediating between Israel and Syria and is trying to help establish peace in the Middle East.
Referring to the quadrilateral agreement between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Syria, and Qatar, Aliyev said, “Under this agreement, Azerbaijani gas will be sent to Syria via Türkiye. We have currently agreed to send 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas, but this amount could increase in the future.”
The President of Azerbaijan stated regarding relations between Israel and Syria: “Meetings between Israeli and Syrian officials took place through our mediation. Our goal was to create peace and a predictable atmosphere in the region. We are happy to have made a contribution, however small.”
