Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Turkey
Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, stated during his meeting with Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, that bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed in this meeting.
He added that specific measures have been taken in areas such as the “use of airspace” between Turkey and Armenia. According to him, experts from the two countries have conducted evaluations regarding the Alican border and its Armenian counterpart, Margara, as well as the Gyumri-Kars railway.
Mirzoyan also stated that in some cases, progress has not been achieved. He mentioned that there was an agreement to open the borders to nationals of third countries and holders of Armenian and Turkish diplomatic passports; however, this agreement has not yet been implemented.
He stated regarding bilateral relations that both sides believe the ultimate goal is the complete normalization of relations, including the establishment of diplomatic ties and the reopening of borders.
Mirzoyan noted that during his meeting with Fidan, opportunities that could pave the way for the normalization of relations were also discussed. He emphasized that their discussions were not limited to establishing diplomatic relations and reopening borders; rather, the topic of extensive trade that might occur between the two countries was also addressed.
Mirzoyan, referring to cooperation in international arenas, stated that the realities indicate that on issues such as the Middle East, the perspectives and perceptions of the two countries are sometimes closer to each other than is commonly assumed.

Azerbaijan and Armenia
In response to a question about the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Mirzoyan described the agreement as “historic and unprecedented” and announced that the document is fully ready for signing.
He referred to Azerbaijan’s condition regarding the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group for the peace agreement and stated that if there is no conflict, there is no need for this group.
Mirzoyan added that they intend to sign the document for the dissolution of the Minsk Group and the peace agreement with Azerbaijan on the same day.
The minister also stated regarding the amendment of Armenia’s constitution, which Azerbaijan has considered a condition for ensuring territorial integrity in the peace agreement, that the necessary guarantees had already been provided.
Mirzoyan emphasized that the issue of recognizing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has also been included in the peace agreement that will be signed between the two parties.
He concluded by stating that after the signing of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan, there will no longer be a need for the European Union monitoring mission.
