Meeting of the President of Azerbaijan and the Minister of Defense of Iran in Baku
The President of Azerbaijan, in his meeting with the Minister of Defense of Iran in Baku, emphasized the importance of lasting peace in the South Caucasus and the constructive role of this country in establishing stability in the region.
Ilham Aliyev, in this meeting held during the visit of Iran’s Minister of Defense, Aziz Nasirzadeh, to Baku, referred to Azerbaijan’s peace initiatives and stated that tranquility has been established in the South Caucasus region. He added: “This peace holds special importance for Iran, as the common neighbor of Azerbaijan and Armenia.”
The President of Azerbaijan, stating that his country is an example of a successful transition from war to peace, noted: “We desire peace throughout the world and an end to bloodshed and wars.”
Aliyev then expressed his concern about the current situation in the region and announced Azerbaijan’s readiness to provide support in reducing tensions.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed and reviewed bilateral defense cooperation.
