Successful Launch of Three Iranian Satellites from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome
Three Iranian satellites named Zafar 2, Paya, and Kowsar 1.5 were launched into Earth’s orbit today, Sunday, 7 Dey 1404, at 16:48 Tehran time, by a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome.
The Russian State Space Corporation (Roscosmos) had announced prior to the launch that the final preparations for this mission had been successfully completed.
According to the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology and the President of the Iranian Space Research Center, these satellites were built by the private sector. They are capable of transmitting imagery data with resolutions ranging from 15 meters to less than 5 meters. Such data can be applied in agriculture, water resource management, and environmental monitoring.
He further stated that the satellites will be placed in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), approximately 500 kilometers above the Earth’s surface, with an estimated operational lifespan of 2 to 5 years.
