Telephone Conversation Between the Speakers of the Parliaments of Iran and Turkey
**Numan Kurtulmuş**, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, held a telephone conversation with **Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf**, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran.
In this conversation, Kurtulmuş expressed sorrow over the recent events in Iran, conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. Stating that “Iran’s pain is Turkey’s pain,” he emphasized that peace, security, stability, and prosperity in Iran—a country whose developments they closely follow—must be ensured in the best possible manner.
During the call, which also addressed the aggressions of the Zionist regime in the region, Kurtulmuş stated: “Israel’s power stems neither from its weapons, nor from the support of major powers, nor from its dominance over international media, nor from its influence on the global financial system. Rather, its greatest power lies in creating division and fragmentation among Islamic countries.”
The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, pointing to the importance of strengthening the brotherhood between the peoples of Iran and Turkey, noted that the close cooperation between the two countries will continue in the future as it has in the past.
At the end, Kurtulmuş invited Ghalibaf to attend the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which will be held in Istanbul from April 15 to 19, 2026 (corresponding to Farvardin 27 to 31, 1405 in the Iranian calendar).
