Aliyev: India’s Attempt at Retaliation Is Insignificant
Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, stated that India is seeking retaliation in international organizations due to Baku’s support for Pakistan, but described this move as “insignificant.”
Emphasizing the importance of brotherly relations with Pakistan, he said these ties hold a special place in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy.
According to the Office of the President of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the 25th Summit of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China, Aliyev met and held talks with Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan.
During the meeting, Sharif, on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s political support and solidarity during India’s military attacks.
The President of Azerbaijan, while congratulating Pakistan on its victory over India, once again stressed the brotherly nature of relations between the two countries and said: “India is trying, because of our support for Pakistan, to take action against Azerbaijan in international forums, but this matter is of no importance to us.”
The discussion also underlined the necessity of expanding trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Pakistan, and both sides noted that practical steps have been taken to implement previous agreements within the framework of this cooperation.
