Bahçeli: Turkey must be the main actor on its own foreign policy stage
Devlet Bahçeli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), emphasized in an interview with Türkgün newspaper that Turkey’s foreign policy is attaining a global position. He said: “Turkey must focus on itself; be the writer, director, and leading actor of its own special projects; redefine its laws and institutions based on this perspective; and in this process, build a strong social consensus.”
Rejecting any notion of a shift in foreign policy, Bahçeli once again proposed a trilateral alliance between Turkey, Russia, and China. He added: “Debates such as axis change, ideological deviation, or misguidance are of no importance to us. What matters are Turkey’s rights and national interests. Our country’s geopolitical and geostrategic position requires a cautious, measured, and multilayered foreign policy. Our proposal for the establishment of the TRC alliance has been put forward in this very context. This alliance between Turkey, Russia, and China is the best option for confronting global developments—an option that aligns with rationality, diplomacy, the spirit of politics, geographical conditions, and the strategic environment of the new century.”
