The Ministry of Trade of Turkey prevented the entry of unsafe products
The Ministry of Trade of Turkey announced that with the implementation of the risk-based control system in foreign trade, known as TAREKS, the inspection process of imported goods in the country continues, and millions of unsuitable and unsafe products have so far been prevented from entering the Turkish market.
The statement emphasized that the product safety system in Turkey is implemented on the basis of the regulations of the European Union (European Union) and within the framework of the Customs Union. Accordingly, a wide range of goods, including industrial products, agricultural products, consumer goods, and medical equipment, are subject to inspection.
The Ministry of Trade of Turkey also stated that in addition to preventing the import of non-compliant goods, continuous monitoring of the domestic market is carried out, and in cases where non-compliant products are identified, these goods are either withdrawn from the market or corrected. In this context, heavy fines have been imposed on those who supply unsafe products.
In another part of the statement, it was noted that developments in the field of e-commerce in Turkey are also being closely monitored, and new regulations have been introduced to control products offered on online platforms. According to these regulations, e-commerce platforms operating in Turkey are obliged to include safety information and the identity details of producers and importers in their product listings.
The Ministry of Trade of Turkey concluded by stressing that with the use of new technologies and artificial intelligence, the capacity for supervision and inspection in the country will be increased, and all necessary measures to ensure product safety and to establish a secure market structure in trade and e-commerce will be pursued with determination.
