Iran and European Countries to Hold New Round of Nuclear Talks in Istanbul
Representatives from Iran and the three European JCPOA signatories (France, Germany, and the UK) will meet in Istanbul on Friday, July 25, to discuss issues related to Iran’s nuclear program.
The talks will be held at the deputy foreign minister level, with Majid Takht-Ravanchi (Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs) and Kazem Gharibabadi (Deputy for International Affairs) in attendance. This marks the fourth round of negotiations between Iran and the European trio under Iran’s 14th administration, following previous meetings in New York, Geneva, and Istanbul.
The meeting takes place as indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. on reviving the JCPOA continue. Earlier, on May 16, representatives from Iran and the three European countries had also met in Istanbul.
Meanwhile, concerns persist over the possible activation of the “snapback” mechanism by European countries, which could reinstate UN Security Council sanctions against Iran. The deadline for triggering this mechanism has been set for October 18.
