Iran and Turkeys 30 Billion Trade Target
The Governor of Tehran, referring to the extensive capacities of the capital in economic, scientific, medical, cultural, and tourism fields, announced the full readiness of Tehran Province for the comprehensive development of cooperation with Turkey.
Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian, in a meeting with Hicabi Kırlangıç, the Turkish Ambassador to Tehran, held at the governor’s office, pointed to the 534-kilometer common border between Iran and Turkey, describing the relations between the two countries as strategic and historical, and said: “These relations are based on religious and cultural commonalities and neighborliness.”
Stating that both countries have been victims of terrorism in many cases and share common positions in fighting it, he added that these cooperations have created exemplary security along their shared borders.
The Governor of Tehran noted: “Considering the target set to increase trade exchanges between the two countries to up to $30 billion, there is serious determination among senior officials of both countries, including Dr. Pezeshkian and Erdoğan, to achieve this goal.”
Motamedian, referring to the strategic position of the two countries in transport corridors, described Turkey’s borders as Iran’s gateway to Europe and Iran’s borders as Turkey’s gateway to Central and West Asia, and said: “In the 14th government, the development of road and rail transportation has accelerated.”
Emphasizing the special status of Tehran Province as the capital, he stated: “Sixty percent of the country’s financial turnover, more than one-third of the gross domestic product, and 20 percent of the country’s population are concentrated in Tehran Province. Two percent of the country’s knowledge-based companies are also based in Tehran, providing grounds for joint cooperation with Turkey in this field.”
The Governor of Tehran announced the province’s readiness to develop economic, medical, academic, cultural, sports, and tourism cooperation with major Turkish provinces, including Istanbul and Izmir, and added: “Our work is based on relying on the private sector and the government’s facilitating role, and we see no obstacle to the development of comprehensive relations between the two countries.”
In conclusion, Motamedian, thanking the recent stance of the Turkish government and people in condemning the illegal actions of the Zionist regime and expressing sympathy with the Iranian people, emphasized: “These cooperations and sympathies show the depth of relations between the two nations and will contribute to sustainable security in the region.”
