Leader of the Nationalist Movement Party Opposes Erdoğan’s Withdrawal from Presidential Election
In his statement, Bahçeli said:
“Turkey is becoming an emerging power, and this progress brings joy to friends and concern to enemies. In such an environment, a president who works day and night for his country and is the architect of the ‘Century of Turkey’ vision cannot deviate from his path. This decision aligns neither with the country’s domestic realities nor with regional and global developments.”
He also emphasized that Turkey’s presidential system must be further consolidated, stating that the People’s Alliance (comprising the AK Party and MHP) will not allow the country to fall into the hands of political engineers who seek crisis and chaos.

Highlighting Erdoğan’s key role in Turkey’s future, Bahçeli added:
“Our president’s presence is irreplaceable for Turkey’s future. He must continue on his path and maintain his leadership.”
This statement came after Erdoğan’s recent remarks where he said, “I no longer intend to run as a candidate.” These comments sparked widespread reactions in Turkey’s political circles.
Given Bahçeli’s firm stance, it appears that the People’s Alliance will make efforts to persuade Erdoğan to run again in the presidential election. This issue could have significant implications for Turkey’s political landscape in the near future.
