Support of 142 Countries for the Two‑State Solution for Palestine
The United Nations General Assembly adopted a draft resolution known as the “New York Declaration,” which endorses and supports the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two‑state solution, with 142 votes in favor and 10 votes against.
In today’s session, 10 countries — including the United States of America and Israel — voted against the resolution, while 12 countries abstained.
The “New York Declaration,” introduced at the initiative of France and Saudi Arabia, aims to recognize an independent State of Palestine — without the presence of Hamas — and to bring about a peaceful end to the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
