Trump Hosts Signing of Azerbaijan-Armenia Peace Agreement
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan convened at the White House for a trilateral meeting hosted by US President Donald Trump. Following negotiations, the parties signed a joint statement titled “Peace Roadmap.”
At this meeting attended by the leaders of the three countries, Donald Trump described the signing of the document as “a significant step toward reducing tensions” between Baku and Yerevan, stating:
“Armenia and Azerbaijan have committed to ending hostilities, initiating trade and diplomatic relations, and respecting each other’s territorial integrity.”
The US President also announced the lifting of defense sanctions against Azerbaijan, adding:
“This decision is vital for Baku and will expand bilateral cooperation.”
Trump referenced the US-Armenia agreement on developing the “Zangezur Corridor,” which will provide Azerbaijan access to Nakhchivan. He remarked:
“Some have called this route ‘Trump’s International Road of Peace and Prosperity,’ although this title was not proposed by me.”

According to the joint statement:
1.The Minsk Group (overseen by the US, Russia, and France for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict) will be dissolved.
2.Working groups will be established to draft the details of the Peace Roadmap.
Nikol Pashinyan called this agreement “the beginning of a new era in bilateral relations,” emphasizing:
“This document offers a solution to decades of conflict and ushers in a new age of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Ilham Aliyev described the day as “historic,” stating:
“Peace has been established in the Caucasus today. This will create unparalleled opportunities not only for us but for the entire region.”
On the sidelines of the meeting:
Aliyev and Trump agreed to form a “Joint Working Group” to prepare a “Strategic Partnership Charter” between the two countries. This cooperation will cover energy, transportation, artificial intelligence, and counter-terrorism.
