Turkey Expands Customs Exemptions for Palestinian Goods
The Ministry of Trade of Turkey announced an increase in the customs exemption quota for imported goods originating from Palestine.
On Saturday, the Ministry stated in a press release that the decision to expand preferential tariff quotas within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Palestine had been published in the Official Gazette. The aim of this measure is to support the Palestinian economy and strengthen trade relations between the two sides.
According to the announcement, in addition to setting new quotas for certain key Palestinian products, the customs exemption for dates has been raised from 5,000 tons to 7,000 tons. This figure shows a remarkable increase compared to 2.5 years ago, when the quota was only 1,000 tons, and it is expected to contribute to the growth of trade exchanges.
The Ministry of Trade of Turkey also emphasized that Palestinian imports, when used as intermediate goods, will benefit from more flexible rules. The increase in the import quota for dates and the expansion of exemptions for agricultural products are part of Turkey’s policies to support the Palestinian economy and its people.
At the end of the statement, the Ministry of Trade of Turkey noted: “Turkey, as it has always stood by the Palestinian people, will continue to support them in the economic field as well.”
