Turkey on the Path to Strengthening the Digital Economy
Turkey, by recording remarkable growth in the field of e-commerce, has strengthened its position in the digital economy. It is predicted that the volume of this market will exceed 100 billion dollars this year.
Hakan Çevikoğlu, President of the Turkish E-Commerce Operators Association, stated: “E-commerce has maintained its strong growth trend in 2025. The market volume, which reached 90 billion dollars in 2024, is expected to surpass 100 billion dollars this year.”
He emphasized that the support of the Ministry of Trade and coordinated efforts in this field have contributed significantly, adding: “E-commerce has, in recent years, achieved a strategic position within the structure of the country’s digital economy.”
Çevikoğlu noted: “In the retail sector, one out of every five products is purchased through digital channels. This indicates that e-commerce accounts for about 20 percent of total retail, and it is expected that this share will increase further in the medium term.”
According to him, the volume of e-commerce grew by 61.7 percent in 2024, and electronic exports are expected to reach approximately 8 billion dollars. Çevikoğlu also predicted that in 2026, double-digit growth in electronic exports will continue, with Turkish brands achieving a broader and more balanced presence in global markets, thereby securing a more stable position.
