Turkish Company Announces Readiness to Invest in Afghanistan’s Hydroelectric Power

A Turkish company active in the electrical equipment sector has announced its interest in investing in the installation of new-technology hydroelectric turbines and the renovation of existing power plants in Afghanistan.

This matter was discussed during a meeting between Abdulhak Himkar, the General Manager of the Afghanistan Electricity Company (Breshna), and Engineer Gunay Kosay, the official of the Turkish electrical equipment company “Marbiyaz”. The meeting emphasized the importance of investment in hydroelectric power plants, modernization of turbines, and upgrading electricity production technology.

Held with the aim of evaluating investment opportunities in the hydroelectric sector, reconstruction and modernization of facilities, and installation of advanced power generation systems, the General Manager of Breshna welcomed the Turkish delegation. He stated that all necessary facilities and incentives to support investors in the electricity generation and equipment sector have been provided, and investors can operate in these areas with full confidence.

In turn, Gunay Kosay thanked the management of Breshna and announced that his company is eager to invest in generating electricity from Afghanistan’s water resources, rehabilitating existing turbines, installing modern high-capacity turbines, and enhancing the skills of the local technical workforce.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided that joint technical meetings would be held between the technical departments of Breshna and the Turkish company, and field assessments would be conducted in various provinces of the country to evaluate the potential for electricity generation from existing water resources.
